The Highways Agency will begin significant A66 road improvements over the weekend of the Frenchfield horse trials on 8/9 September between Kirkby Thore and Penrith and for competitors arriving from the East there will be diversions in place all weekend.
Competitors are being advised to strictly follow these diversionary routes which are dependent on vehicle size and for anyone with a vehicle over 18 tonnes and 14ft’6 high they will need to travel via the A69. All other vehicles will follow the various local diversions. There will also be overnight closure of the A66/A6 roundabout at Penrith meaning all competitors are advised to arrive after 6am and depart by 7pm. (N.B. there will be no final prize giving on Saturday late afternoon).
Diversionary routes may be viewed HERE.
Full details of these roadworks will become available to view at www.highwaysengland.co.uk/projects/a66-eden-valley/
