Thank you to our army of volunteers at Dalston Green for another excellent event over the weekend and of course to all the competitors who looked to be enjoying the improving conditions as the hours passed. Well done to Jennifer Pearson and Mia Ketchner for their wins in the trial AW Jenkinson sponsored BE105 sections H & G riding Lolantus H and Lostock James Brown respectively. Ashleigh Hale with Coathamdene Salt N Pepper strengthened her position in the Cumberland Building Society Cumbria Young Rider Award leaderboard with a further win in the Airowear BE80 Section I and well done to local riders Thomas Collier and Jodie Gray for their 2nd and 3rd placings in the same section along with a pleasing outing for our sponsor Julie Wylie on her Grantina. There were many first time outings for riders including April Jackson on Capitall Ainsley who like many new to the sport will have taken away so much confidence and we look forward to seeing them all in a few weeks time at Eden Valley on 1&2 October. In the BE80 Sections J & K there were wins for Amy Auld and Coolamber Dash and Nicky Owens on Red Poll with a second and fourth for local riders Sophie Dodds and Rachel Brass. In the two Mitsubishi Motors BE90 Regional Finals Carolyn Gospel and Sam Harrison secured their places to Badminton next spring and yesterdays BE90 Sections N & O were won by Alannah Grieve and Sarah A Jones with the day concluding with a win for Sara Bowe in the final BE100 Section P.
With four section wins for Cumbrian riders we are so pleased to see our local riders enjoying such success across the 6 levels of eventing on offer in the county. Well done to all.
Our thanks go to the Rickerby family for their help and support providing the lovely parkland setting at Dalston Green and a special mention to contractor David Evans for all his hard work and enthusiasm to provide the tractors and tankers over the weekend to ensure the event ran so well.
It was a pleasure to see long standing commentator Tim Finch receive his BE Award from BE Vice President Polly Lochore. Like so many people dedicated to horse trials Tim is key to making all these events work so well.
We look forward to Eden Valley and encourage competitors to get their entry in a.s.a.p. to help our preparations.
