Maiden Marine Blackdyke Farm Indoor Arena Eventing Series for 2021/22

We’re very much looking forward to the start of the Maiden Marine Blackdyke Farm Indoor Arena Eventing Series for 2021/22 and with entries now open it’s time to choose the classes best suited to you. First off from around 10am there’s the Beginners 75/80cm class including 16-18 fences mixed equally between knock down show jumps and fixed solid cross country portables. Then from 11.30 is the 85cm class for those more experienced with raised show jumps and a few more challenging fixed obstacles, and thirdly early afternoon the 95cm class for those who know their horses very well and there is often a skinny obstacle included such as a corner or arrowhead. The speed is paced at around 325mpm with the winner being closest to the optimum time and with the least jumping faults. Although we do not publish the time to be achieved during the class, the automatic arena clock is on view for all to see. There are various course walking times published alongside the Start Times on the Thursday evening after 8pm on www.cumbriahorsetrials.com in the week of the competition so competitors may arrive in reasonable time to familiarise themselves with their courses. Results are available to view on the same website within seconds of each round. The top five places are rewarded with prizes in kind generously provided by Maiden Marine and rosettes from Cumbria Horse Trials and all these are available at the end of each class from the Gallery. There is a series winner for the horse and rider combination gaining the most points throughout the 6 competitions but it isn’t necessary to attend all the events. These are friendly events and there is plenty of time to complete your round. There’s plenty of parking and with the event held indoors there’s no need to worry if its going to be wet!
